Nazi imagery and decor is fashionable down here with the youth in Thailand. They like wearing shirts with Hitler as a Teletubbie. They also like to wear the Swastika and do the Zieg Heil arm movement every now and then.
I am okay with it. Keep in mind that Thailand in a third world country and most of these teens and young adults probably do not know much about the Holocaust and World War II. They just think that Hitler looks amusing and that the way the Nazis dress is fashionable.
I find it very ethnocentric to condemn this behavior. Besides, I'm not sure but I think the swastika might even have Asian origins. Has anyone seen "Master of the Flying Guillotine?" That guy runs around wearing a huge swastika but he is obviously Chinese. No one is crying about that movie. Wutang Clan even gives that movie a shout out.
This individual was super friendly about my taking his picture. I love Thai people. They just like the swastika. No one is crying about the Armenian Genocide, most people are ignorant. Give it a rest.
